SALTFORD STARS        2

FRY CLUB COLTS          1

Todays match was for real as Saltford were registered and we commenced our away fixtures against fierce local rivals who twice beat us last season.

The mood was good within our 13 man squad, James Hurrell Smith typifying the players commitment by cutting short his weekend away to play in this fixture. The first half saw us dominate the possession and create most of the scoring chances. Mo Bouaziz opened the scoring with a well worked move giving him a simple tap in to go 1-0 up. Both Brad Monelle and James Boulton went close but we suffered a killer strike just before half time when James’ cousin Jack Boulton turned and shot from the edge of our penalty box to level the scores.

We continued in the second half to push for further goals but some stout defending from Saltford somehow kept the ball out despite sustained pressure. As happens in so many close encounters, it takes a moment of brilliance to win games and that just what Saltfords Greg Blankley with a quality direct free kick to secure an unlikely and bitterly disappointing victory for Saltford.

Overall we couldn’t have done any more to win the game except score. We all understood how important it was to remain together and we know good things will come from the current confidence and team spirit we have within our squad.

There really were some great performances for ‘MotM’ with both Oli Randall and Mo Bouaziz in Midfield dominating large periods of the game and Jordan Knight and james Hurrell Smith playing well in defence.

The managers choice this week though was awarded to Kyle Curtis who played an all rounder today during the game in the centre of defence, centre midfield and left back.
